Office of Quaestor Created

In matters of military payment, quaestors functioned as paymasters reporting in to the consuls

Another function, carried over from the Regal Period, was to bring an accusation (equivalent to a modern day prosecutor) against persons believed to have committed a capital crime; such as murder

Quaestors were elected by the Tribal Assembly (Comitia Tributa). There were originally 4 of them. This was the lowest magistrate’s office on the Cursus Honorum.
